The yield of escaping benzenesulfonyl radical was found to be increased by a magnetic field. The yield at 1.2 T was 1.53 k 0.05 times that at 0 T. From the observed magnetic field effects, the present reaction was proved to occur from triplet radical pairs.

The magnetic field effect on the hydrogen abstraction reaction of anthraquinone in sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micellar solution has been studied by two-step laser escitation fluorescence including a variable delay technique. The risetime of the "cage product" is 380 ns at 0 G and 890 ns at 800 G,
