โฆ Synopsis
Leer flash &&o&is of a concentrated iodine solution in the presence of I-ions in tertiobutanol gives rise to a transient absorption band with a maximum at 540 m-n. At equilibrium the soIution contains mtiy Iz, 1; and to a Iesser extent I;. The actinic flash at 529 IIIY~ photodissociates the iodine into iodine atoms which can be scavenged by 1, to give the transient species 16; absorbing at 540 rim. As the 1, concentration is increasd the radical anion I$ is dso formed by dtiect photodi~so~~tian of 1; since its absorption reaches the 529 nm range. Analysis of the EtiIzetic datz is given.
