โœฆ Synopsis

Forty children with disseminated solid tumors (neuroblastoma, Wilms' tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, lymphoma, Ewing's sarcoma, histiocytosis-X, osteogenic sarcoma, and retinoblastoma) were studied for evidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIG). Fibrinogen, factor V, factor VIII, cryofibrinogen, and fibrin/fibrinogen degradation product levels did not support the diagnosis of DIC in any patient. Abnormalities of platelets, serial thrombin time, and factors I1 and VII-X were related to disease process or therapy. DTC does not appear to be common in children with metastatic solid tumors.
