✦ Synopsis

Figure 10 Electric field, -polarized, backscattered from a sinusoidally deformed DCR with p s 0.1. Dashed line: h s 0; solid line: h s 0.2 tive or destructive way, thus justifying the oscillations present in Figure 10.

As a final observation, we note that, by increasing the DCR dimensions, the lobes appearing in the pattern become narrower and higher. As a consequence, the justification of the pattern shape in terms of the properties of the corresponding infinite gratings also becomes easier.

Conclusions

In this paper, we have analyzed the electromagnetic backscattering by a perfectly conducting DCR with sinusoidal profiles characterized by different periodicity values. The pattern modifications can be related to the properties of the corresponding infinite grating, and to the dimensions of the DCR. The focalization of the scattered energy along certain directions can be explained by resorting to the Littrow mounting condition.

No¨el design of a dual-frequency triangular microstrip antenna with a V-shaped slot is proposed and experimentally studied. By selecting suitable dimensions of the V-shaped slot, dual-frequency operation with the frequency ratio ranging from 1.488 to 1.834 has been obtained using a single probe feed
