✦ Synopsis
The paper discussed thermal degradation of betanine, isolated on Sephadex G-25 and recrystallized from 0.1 % HCI. Model solutions of betanine (pH 5.0) were heated at 60.0, 65.5, 68.5, 72.5, 75.0, 76.5, 81.0, and 86.0 "C. Experimental values obtained were used for calculations of the reaction rate constants as well as half-life values of betanine. The activation energy of betanine was found as E = 144.8 kJ/mol.
