Abstract
At bromide concentrations higher than 0.1 M, a second term must be added to the classical rate law of the bromate–bromide reaction that becomes −d[BrO~3~^−^]/d__t__ = [BrO~3~^−^][H^+^]^2^(k~1~[Br^−^] + k~2~[Br^−^]^2^). In perchloric solutions at 25°C, k~1~ = 2.18 dm^3^ mol^−3^ s^−1^ and k~2~ = 0.65 dm^4^ mol^−4^ s^−1^ at 1 M ionic strength and k~1~ = 2.60 dm^3^ mol^3^ s^−1^and k~2~ = 1.05 dm^4^ mol^−4^ s^−1^ at 2 M ionic strength. A mechanism explaining this rate law, with Br~2~O~2~ as key intermediate species, is proposed. Errors that may occur when using the Guggenheim method are discussed. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract We have measured the specific viscosity of closed circular PM2 DNA in the presence of concentrations of ethidium bromide ranging up to 5 mg/ml. Both native viral PM2 DNA I and enzymatically prepared relaxed, closed circular PM2 DNA I~0~ exhibit a complex dependence of the specific visco
## Abstract The reaction of copper with benzyl bromides in dipolar aprotic solvents has been studied. There are no linear or other simple relations between ε, 1/ε, __Y__, __P__, __n__, and the rate of reaction. The activity of the solvent is determined by donor number (DN) in reaction under conside

Fossil fuel combustion is an important source of NO x , thus making the control of NO x emissions a primary issue in almost all the developed countries. This paper discusses a post-combustion process for reducing NO x emissions, Thermal DeNOx. After introducing the general problem of post-combustion
