Abstract
The reaction of copper with benzyl bromides in hexamethylphosphoramide has been studied. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the reaction have been obtained. Hammett plots of log (k/k^o^) vs the substituent constant Ο gave good correlations (Ο = 0.15, S~Ο~ = 0.02, r = 0.954). The structure of the organic group has little effect on the rate of reaction of benzyl bromide with copper. In the absence of atmospheric oxygen, the oxidative dissolution of copper occurred by the mechanism of singleβelectron transfer with the formation of 1,2βdiphenylethane and copper(I) complexes. The stereochemistry and intermediates compound was also investigated.
The reaction mechanism is discussed. Β© 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 37: 296β305, 2005

## Abstract The reaction of copper with benzyl bromides in dipolar aprotic solvents has been studied. There are no linear or other simple relations between Ξ΅, 1/Ξ΅, __Y__, __P__, __n__, and the rate of reaction. The activity of the solvent is determined by donor number (DN) in reaction under conside
## Abstract The reaction of copper with benzyl chlorides in dipolar aprotic solvents has been investigated. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the reaction of copper with benzyl chloride in dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylacetamide, and hexamethylphosphoramide have been obtained. Hammett plots
In this study, we investigated the kinetics of the nucleophilic substitutions, RX + (BzBu,NBr) RBr + (BzBu,NX), where R = allyl. Bu and Bz, when X = CI; and X = AcO and BzO when R = Bz The forward and backward rate constants in addition to the activation energies for R = allyl and Bu were also deter
## Abstract The kinetics and mechanism of the following reactions have been studied in the temperature range 230β360 K and at total pressure of 1 Torr of helium, using the dischargeβflow mass spectrometric method: 1a: 1b: The following Arrhenius expression for the total rate constant was obtaine
Ninhydrin has been found to react with Cu(glycine)+ and Cu(alanine)+ in the ratio of 1:l. The kinetic studies of the reaction were carried out at different concentrations of the reactants at 80Β°C (pH = 5.0). The reaction proceeds through the formation of a ternary labile complex of ninhydrin with Cu
