โœฆ Synopsis

The kinetics of polarographic reduction of uranium(V1) has been investigated in phosphoric acid solutions of concentration 0.1, I, 1.85, 5 and IO M. In the 0.1 M acid solution two waves were obtained, whereas only one reduction wave appeared in solutions >M. The diffusion coefficient of the reacting species in the different media were calculated by different methods. It is concluded that reduction in these media does not go beyond quadrivalent uranium. The analysis of the different waves reveals that they are not reversible; the different kinetic parameters are calculated. The results are discussed in terms of the tendency of phosphate ions to form different complexes with U(V1) in phosphoric acid solutions of different concentrations. This is supported by spectrophotometric, conductometrlc studies and adsorption by resins. The effects of charged (anionic and cationic) and uncharged (non-ionic) surfactants (SAS) on the polarographic waves of uranium(V1) in phosphoric acid solutions of concentrations O-1, 1,5 and 10 M were investigated. The non-ionic surfactant (Triton X-100) was found to cause retardation of reactions

The effect of cationic, anionic and non-ionic surfactants (SAS) on the kinetics of polarographic reduction of U(V1) in sulphuric acid solution8 of different concentrations have been investigated. Both anionic and non-ionic surfactants cause retardation of the reduction process and render the waves m
