β¦ Synopsis
The kinetics of OH reactions with furan (kl), thiophene (k2), and tetrahydrothiophene ( k 3 ) , have been investigated over the temperature range 254-425 K. OH radicals were produced by flash photolysis of water vapor at h > 165 nm and detected by timeresolved resonance fluorescence spectroscopy. The following Arrhenius expressions adequately describe the measured rate constants as a function of temperature (units are cm3 molecule-' s-I): k, = (1.33 -t 0.29) x lo-" exp[(333 ? 67)/n, k, = (3.20 t 0.70) x lo-'' exp[(325 -t 71)/U, k, = (1.13 t-0.35) x lo-" exp[(166 t-97)/27. The results are compared with previous investigations and their implications regarding reaction mechanisms and atmospheric residence times are discussed.

Rate constants for the reactions of 0 3 and OH radicals with furan and thiophene have been determined at 298 f 2 K. The rate constants obtained for the 0 3 reactions were (2.42 f 0.28) X 1O-lS cm3/molec.s for furan and <6 X cm3/molec-s for thiophene. The rate constants for the OH radical reactions,
Absolute rate constants for the gas phase reaction of OH radicals with pyrrole tk,) and thiophene ( k , ) have been measured over the temperature ranges 298-440 and 274-382 K, respectively, using the flash photolysis-resonance fluorescence technique. The kinetics of OH reactions with 1-4 carbon aliphatic thiols have been investigated over the temperature range 252-430 K. OH radicals were produced by flash photolysis of water vapor at h > 165 nm and detected by time-resolved resonance fluorescence spectroscopy. All thiols investigated react with
