✦ Synopsis
The kinetics of aluminium deposition from NaCI-AICl, and NaCl-KCI-AlCI, melts (cata, -=z 0.4 mol %) was studied by linear sweep ~oltammetry and potential step ampero.nctry. The reduction of AK& on tungsten and aluminium elcctrodcs was found to be diffusion controlled. The diffusion coefficients of AICI, wet-c: 3.5 x lo-' cm2 s-t at 82O'C in NaCI-AICI,. 2.7 x lo-' cm' s-r at 825"C,and 2.1 Y 10-5cmrs-' at 705°C in KCI-NaCl-AlCI,.
The rate wnstant for AlCl, reduction at these conditions was found to be in the order of 0.2 cm s-*, in good agreement with extrapolated literature data.

The electrolyte applied for the study of aluminium deposition consisted of AICI, and LiAlH, in tetrahydrofuran or tetrahydrofuran-benzene mixture. It has been shown that the kinetic parameters such as the exchange current density and transfer coefficients depend to a great extent upon the molar rati
The kinetics of aluminium deposition from NaCI-AICI 3 , KCI-AICI 3 and CsCI-AICI 3 melts (C,rlc1 . = 3 x 10 -'-1 x 10 -3 mol em -3 ) was studied using the chronopotentiometric technique . It was found that in the system NaCI-AIC 3 the reduction of AI(III) species is controlled by diffusion only, whi
