Matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors
Many inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases have been previously reported, several types being produce in combinatorial libraries. A recent paper describes the design of matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors based on diketopiperazines (DKPs) (A.K. Szardenings et al, J. Med. Chem., (1998), 41, 2194-2200). The synthesis of DKPs on solid-phase has been reported many times, but in this library the compounds contain a thiol group designed to chelate the catalytic metal ion.
