✦ Synopsis
Dear reader,
Journal of Biophotonics is turning five and we can look back on a very successful year 2011. The success of the journal is best reflected by an impressive impact factor of 4.240 for 2010. This figure is exceptional and shows how well accepted Journal of Biophotonics already is among the vastly growing Biophotonics community. Over the last four years since its foundation the journal has developed a remarkably high degree of visibility. All this is, of course, only possible as a result of the support and commitment from our authors, reviewers, guest editors, editorial board members and readers. As Editors of Journal of Biophotonics we would like to cordially thank all of you who made this success possible.
The previous volume No. 4 of Journal of Biophotonics comprised 86 peer-reviewed research articles, reviews and letters with a total of 844 pages in twelve issues. Thereby, it covered a broad variety of aspects on the interaction between light and biological material with special emphasis on biomedical diagnosis. We kept the good tradition of realizing topical issues edited by internationally renowned scientists leading in their fields, reporting about such exciting biophotonic topics as:
