โœฆ Synopsis

working on a filamentous fungus named Trichoderma to engineer a metabolic pathway that breaks down biomass into monosaccharides. The biomass-to-ethanol conversion process technology would be economically competitive if the enzymes' cost were within the $0.05-0.15/gal of ethanol range. A pilot plant will be on stream in the next two years and a commercial-scale production plant should be feasible between 2006 and 2010.
