"Joanne Pence is a master chef." -- _--_Mystery Scene
Angelina Amalfi is a rich, pampered lady. Paavo Smith is a homicide detective. While working on a case, Paavo saves Angie's life and is shot in the process. Feeling responsible, Angie takes care of Paavo during his recuperation and falls in love. Paavo has seen the beating relationships between cops and their spouses can take and he is skeptical about getting involved himself. Too Many Cooks is a murder mystery surrounding a number of San Francisco restaurant owners. Paavo is investigating the murder of one of the owners when Angie gets involved. Angie comes from a wealthy family, and because she travels in the same circles as these wealthy restaurateur's she feels she can be of help to Paavo. Angie has a knack for getting into mischief and has a tendency to hinder Paavo rather than help him. It is soon clear that the restaurant business has nothing to do with the murders, and before they find the true mystery behind these grizzly crimes, Paavo and Angie risk not only their lives but their new found feelings. Too Many Cooks leans more to the mystery than the romance, but Ms. Pence includes just enough of both to keep either reader satisfied. This is the second book in a series involving Angelina Amalfi. This first, Something's Cooking was an April '93 release and is currently in it's second printing.Ms. Pence creates a who-dun-it with a satisfying dose of romance!
