Dyestuffs Corp, producing classic organic pigments, dyes and leather chemicals at another site in Qingdao. Ciba also has a joint venture producing quinacridone pigments at Xiangtan (Hunan province). Its research and development centre supporting these various manufacturing operations is located in Shanghai.

The new high performance organic pigments plant on the site near Qingdao airport is intended to meet growing demand from Chinese customers in the domestic automotive, plastics and construction industries. Ciba also plans to establish its Asian regional headquarters for the Coating Effects segment at this site.
