## Abstract βFujiβ is an attractive apple for consumers owing to its desirable internal (low acidity, high sugar and phenols) and external (firmness, colouration) fruit quality. However, its red colouration is often weak and starts late in the season. Therefore, in 2003 and 2004, three βFujiβ strai
