A new mutation has been described which confers resistance to catabolite repression in Saccharomyces cerecisiae. The mutant allele, termed grr-I for glucose repression-resistant, is characterized by insensitivity to glucose repression for the cytoplasmic enzymes invertase, maltase, and galactokinase
