โœฆ Synopsis

The photofragment CO produced in the photodissociation of HNCO at 217 nm shows an image that corresiponds to a perpendicular transition, HNCO(I 'A" + 2 'A'). The rotational energy distribution suggests that the dissociation occurs impulsively from the upper 1 'A" potential surface.

Excitation functions for Br-and Br+ formation from jet-cooled Br,, in the region 120-I 14 nm (i.e. from threshold to above the ionisation limit of Br2). are reported. The mechanism for ion-pair formation is discussed in terms of homogeneous couphag between the 8pn Rydberg State and the D(O: ) ion-pa
