Acetoly4 and partial hydrolysiti with acid are often applied to the chemical degradation of polysaccharides in order to elucidate their chemical structures by obtaining oligosaccharide fragments of various molecular sizes. ## Abstract The ^1^H, ^13^C, ^15^N and ^77^Se NMR data of various annelated 1,3‐selenazoles and ‐1,3‐selenazolines are discussed in terms of tautomerism, configurational and conformational preference as well as HOMO–LUMO transition energies. The interpretations are corroborated by semi‐empirical ca
