A cryostat incorporating a dilution refrigerator and high field superconducting solenoid has been constructed which requires automatic helium transfer. A gas-liquid separator for this has been designed and is described.

β¦ Synopsis
A bayonet coupling of a stationary transfer tube with a liquid helium, rotating dewar, horizontal neck has been tested. A relation between the heat leak to liquid He in the coupling and the dewar rotation speed at different bayonet lengths has been derived.

The results of an investigation of the dependence of heat flux on the temperature jump occurring at the boundary between a thin cylinder and liquid hefium are presented. These measurements were made with 0.05--0.5 mm diameter manganin wires at temperatures of 2.2-4.2 K. It is shown that the maximum
To obtain basic data for the construction of large-scale storage vessels for liquid helium, heat leak into a test dewar containing 200 I of liquid helium was studied. The relative amounts of the heat leak components due to various origins were estimated and the effective emissivity between the inner
