β¦ Synopsis
Most of the experimental work on the determination of intraprotoplasmic pH has been done by micro-injection of solutions of indicators. This is because the standard pI-1 indicators are almost all sulphonphthaleins to which most types of cells are normally impermeable. For the literature in this field see the former papers of this series(1 to 6).
While conducting experiments in tissue culture with the mesonephros of the chick, it was found that the cells of the proximal convoluted tubules, in the presence of phenol red, readily take on color. Numerous investigators have already noted a similar coloration of the cells in tubules of the kidney (Richards and Barnwell( 7)). Some of the literature on this 'The expeiises for this investigation were paid by a grant from the Leopold Schcpp Foundstion.

Experiments were conducted to elucidate the factor that influences the concentration of circulating primordial germ cells (cPGCs) in two-day old chick embryos. The concentration of cPGCs was observed to be highest at stage 14 (66.9 Β± 23.2 Β΅l) and decreased thereafter. However, considerable egg to eg
Mutations in the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex cause muscle degeneration and dysfunctions in the central nervous system, including an impaired synaptic transmission in the outer plexiform layer (OPL) of the retina. To investigate the basis for this ocular phenotype, we analyzed the distribution of
## Abstract [O~2~] was measured in the embedding material (alginate) in a typical apparatus for conducting studies of viable cells with NMR, using low frequency EPR. In suspension cultures respiration was independent of [O~2~] in the perfusing media down to about 1 ΞΌM while in alginate beads, the c
The intracellular sodium concentration and intracellular volume of human red blood cells were determined from 23Na and 1H NMR spectra. It is shown that sodium dissolved in the intracellular water has a concentration higher than that previously published. The intracellular sodium concentration measur
