The 'rheological model' of adhesion developed by Gent and Schultz significantly broadened the applicability of the thermodynamic model of adhesion by accounting not only for the thermodynamic energy of adhesion, but also for the irreversibly dissipated energy occurring during viscoelastic and plasti

β¦ Synopsis
A basic set of 10 thermoset polymer-polymer interfaces has been identified to play a vital role in the technical and economic aspects of composite manufacturing (RIM/RTM, compression molding, autoclave lamination), recycling, repair, welding, and joining of polymer composites. Knowledge of the chemical interactions and molecular connectivity at these interfaces and their influence on processability and mechanical properties of the polymers and polymer composite is essential, and has been the focus of this research. Presented in this report are the results of an exploratory study performed to understand the interactions at the polymer-polymer interface and their influence on the interfacial fracture toughness of a thermoset vinyl ester, which is widely used in liquid molding applications.

The base vacuum of the deposition system was about 5 10 Β±6 torr (1 torr Β» 133 Pa), and the powder mate
Cellulose fibers were grafted with compatibilizing agents, such as maleated polypropylenes of different molecular weights. Steric effects and surface free-energy effects were found to stimulate the stretching of grafted chains away from the cellulose fiber surface, giving rise to a brushlike configu
## Abstract The electrical and thermal conductivity of nanocarbon filled polymers were studied by adding nanocarbon fillers (thermoexfoliated graphite (TEG) and dispersed TEG (nanoTEG)) to epoxy resin (ED) or polyethylene oxide (PEO). The content of filler in composite materials (CM) was (0.5β10) w
