✦ Synopsis
ABsTRAcr
The synthesis of 2-amino-1,6-anhydro-2-deoxy-4-O-methyl-~-o-mannop~anose (3) is described. Potentiometric and spectroscopic methods were used to evaluate the equilibria and the complex structures in systems containing Cu(I1) ions and 3, and two other 1,6-anhydro derivatives. The results showed that no mannosamine derivative is able to form dimeric species found earlier for 1,6-anhydro-glucosamine ligands. The correlation between complex formation and sugar structure is discussed. INTRODLJCTION Aminodeoxy sugars, as has been shown earlier, co-ordinate copper(B) ' Part II. For Part I, see ref 1.
