Abstract

Detailed ^1^H‐, ^13^C‐, and ^31^P NMR studies of 1‐t‐butyl‐3‐methyl‐2,4‐bis(2,4,6‐tri‐t‐butylphenyl)‐1,3‐diphosphacyclobutane‐2,4‐diyl reveal several unusual coupling constants together with recognition of the diastereotopicity of the compound. These new data support an uncommon phosphorus‐containing molecular structure for the ring system. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
