Cinematographic observations of the slitless flash spectrum near the D3 helium line were performed in Yurgamysh at the total solar eclipse of September 22, 1968. The intensity distribution of the D~ line was obtained with a height resolution of 44 km within the height interval between --3400 and + 1

The center-limb behavior of C2, CH, CN, CO, and MgH lines have been analyzed using five photospheric models. A three-stream model developed by G. Elste gave the most satisfactory results, providing evidence for the existence of inhomogeneities in the photospheric layers --2.5 ~< logzs0oo ~< --0.5.
New observations of the umbral limb-darkening are presented. We find a real and significant decrease in the umbra/photosphere intensity ratio towards the limb. This result contrasts the findings of previous authors and we believe this to be the first time such a decrease is reported. Our conclusion
It has been suggested that pressure shifts are the sole cause for the systematic blue shift of solar fraunhofer lines (Hart, 1974). To check this we evaluate the significance of pressure shifts for Fe I lines. The observed wavelength shifts of a large number of lines are compared with the shifts cal
