Some restrictions on the magnitude of the characteristic polynomial of a sampleddata system for stability were obtained. The ranges of the coefficients of the polynomial were determined. These are useful in checking the instability of the system and dispels unnecessary work. These conditions, especially the coefficient conditions ought to be checked before applying any method of stability investigation.
