The values of an electron-phonon coupling constants for the odd infrared-active vibrations were estimated by comparison of the experimental data with strong-coupling theo~ caku. lations. These values (0.01-0.02) are in good agreement with those reported for the fully symmetric Raman-aefive phonons as well as with ab initio calculations. Anomalies in the temperature dependence of infrared-phonon frequencies around the superconducting transition temperature (To), observed by means of re-

R-site magnetic rare-earth ions in superconducting \(\mathrm{RBa}_{2} \mathrm{Cu}_{3} \mathrm{O}_{7-\delta}\) cannot both fill holes and break pairs. Therefore the observation of both phenomena implies that some rare-earth ions occupy sites other than the \(\mathrm{R}\)-sites, presumably Ba sites.
We report an infrared reflectivity study of epitaxial YBa2Cu307-6 thin films. Results for samples with different values of To, obtained by Fe doping or ion bombardment, give evidence for a gap 2A(0) ~ 7 kBTc. For ion bombarded films we find a soft mode that may correspond to a giant-amplitude oxygen
