Abstract

A linear relationship has been found between the intensity of the infrared absorption of the B‐O stretching vibration in borate ester wax and the hydroxyl number of the hydrolised wax, offering a rapid analytical method for reaction control. Different linear correlations found for different reaction conditions due to different borate structures and the application to on‐line control are discussed.
