β¦ Synopsis
Absorption spectra ofcrysml!inc fluoromethane in the ncx in!ixcd region are presentc'd and compared to the spectra cf chloromerhwc.
The symmetrica modcs Al (VI, ~2, q) cshibit no tine structure.
Two doubly depcncrdtc modes ~4 and vg split into thrw components.
The site symmetry of CH+ should be Clh, ident& to the cE13cl symmetry, or Cl. The structure generally admitted for W&I explains the gross f'caturcs of the spectrum of CHJF, but the different bchaviour of the bands as temwraturc varies dots not allow ox 10 conclude that the ttvc~ solids xc' isomorphous.

The low temperature spectra of solid film-\_ of sodium and cesium nitrate show wry sharp absorption bands that must be ascribed to the transversal optical modes of the crystal lattice. With increasing temperature these bands broaden considerably but no special eflect at the point of fusion is notice
