Absorption spectra ofcrysml!inc fluoromethane in the ncx in!ixcd region are presentc'd and compared to the spectra cf chloromerhwc. The symmetrica modcs Al (VI, ~2, q) cshibit no tine structure. Two doubly depcncrdtc modes ~4 and vg split into thrw components. The site symmetry of CH+ should be C
