Buckingham and Fairbank s describe extremely accurate measurements of the specific heat of liquid helium which show that the 2 transition is not of second order, the specific heat undergoing a logarithmic infinity superposed as a step discontinuity of -5.2 J/g/deg.K. The logarithmic infinity is too
