In their article "Poor Prognosis Infantile Fibrosarcoma With Pathologic Features of Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma After Local Recurrence" (18:295-298, 1990) [I], the authors state that in infantile fibrosarcoma "there is no evidence in the literature that adjuvant chemotherapy improves local control." We would question this statement. We have recently treated a case of congenital fibrosarcoma with chemotherapy, followed by conservative surgery. A 3 week-old baby girl presented in February 1990 with a painless swelling of the lower left leg. No abnormality had been noted at birth. On examination a hard fixed mass measuring 5 X 3 cm was palpated below the knee latero-externally . Ultra-sound,
