β¦ Synopsis
Inelastic-light-scattering measurementson Cd,.,Mn,Se:In, x=0.05, near the metal-to-insulator transition are made in a dilution refrigerator down to T-O.25 K. The electron spin splitting increases dramatically for decreasing temperamre, and at low fields can be expressed as an effective g-factor increasing to a value of g-500. Spectral linewidths in back scattering (large q-vector) are broader than for forward scattering, demonstrating the diffusive character of the delocalized electrons. Comparison of these linewidths give values for the spin-relaxation time Tz and spin-diffusion coefficients D,. We discuss the temperature and field dependencies of these quantities on the metallic side of the metal-to-insulator transition.
