Silicone rubber implants removed from patients undergoing revision arthroplasty were examined for breakage and cracks and analyzed for lipid content. No relationship was observed between lipids extracted from the implants and the implantation time. Neither was the absorption of lipids and the incidence of breakage of the implants found to be related.
