Discoloring of glass due to ionizing radiation depends on the absorbed dose. The radiation-induced light attenuation in optical fibers may be used as a measure of the dose. In high-energy photon beams (6 MV X rays), a lead-doped silica fiber can be calibrated. A dosimeter based on an optical fiber w
