✦ Synopsis

A lipid compound was isolated from a hexane antiinflammatory extract of the Spanish herb Sideritis javalambrensis Pau. It was evaluated for antiinflammatory activity in vivo and in vitro. This compound prevented carrageenan-induced inflammation in rats, acting on the exudate and also reducing the number of leukocytes. Modifications of neutrophil enzyme secretion (b-glucuronidase) in vitro may contribute to its antiinflammatory profile.
