With deep regret we announce the death of Jan Scheutjens, who died on 2 August 1992 as a result of a traffic accident during his vacation in Norway. Jan was senior lecturer in the Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry of the Wageningen Agricultural University. He was only 45 years of age.
Jan Scheutjens was a special person and a brilliant scientist. During his much too brief scientific career he earned a world-wide reputation, being in frequent contact with leading polymer physicists. As a person he remained very modest, but with a subtle sense of humour which reflected his remarkable intelligence.
