F r o n t -e n d i n g U-IMPs with VIMs enables m e a s u r e m e n t of accelerometer, velocity, disp l a c e m e n t / p r o x i m i t y t r a n s d uc e r o u t p u t s , a l l o w i n g a l l c o m m o n r o t a t i n g p l a n t meas u r e m e n t s --such as velocity, d i s p l a c e m e n t and eccentricity --to be i n c o r p o r a t e d into a c o n d i t i o n -b a s e d m a i n t e n a n c e programme. Each p u m p is fitted with four vibration probes connected into U-IMPs v i a S o l a r t r o n VIMs. These c o m p a c t and highly costeffective d u a l -c h a n n e l signal conditioning m o d u l e s convert t h e o u t p u t of t h e v i b r a t i o n probes into a p r o p o r t i o n a l dc signal for direct m e a s u r e m e n t by the IMPs. The unit's rmsconverter-per-channel architecture eliminates the settling delays t h a t limit performance in m u l t i p l e x e d s o l u t i o n s .
