โฆ Synopsis
In this paper, the dynamic response of bridge girders with elastic bearings to moving train loads is studied using an analytical approach. Such a problem ha`s not been very well investigated in the literature. The present results indicate that the dynamic response of the beam at resonance remains generally constant, if the e!ect of damping is taken into account, and that the insertion of elastic bearings at the supports of the beam for the purpose of isolating the earthquake forces may adversely amplify the dynamic response of the beam to moving train loads. An envelope impact formula is derived for the de#ection of the beam with light damping, which serves as a useful, preliminary design aid to railway engineers.

The problem of vibration of engineering structures resulting from the passage of different types of loads is of great importance. Vibrations of this type occur in bridges and railways excited by vehicles, piping systems subjected to two-phase flow, and machining operations where high axial speed is
Analytical determination of stresses and deformations caused by moving loads is vital to foundation and pavement designs. In current applications, moving loads are often approximated to be vertical impact loads. In this work, however, a live load is modelled as a uniform distribution of normal or s
The dynamic response of an inl~nite, prestressed plate strip under a moving, distributed pressure load is determined. The transverse pressure load is assumed to propagate, with constant speed, in the direction which is parallel to the in~nite edges of the plate strip. The constant, uniform prestress
