Abstract
Regional draining lymph nodes (LNs) play a pivotal role in initiating immune responses. However, the presence of metastases may compromise their normal immunological function. Preclinical studies indicate that despite metastases, early tumorβdraining LNs are still a rich source of sensitized T cells. Recently, we found that dendritic (DC)βtumor fusion hybrids were capable of stimulating therapeutic Tβcell generation in the LN. However, this response is regulated by a tumorβspecific suppression mechanism(s). Reversal of these dysfunctions would help the success of immunotherapy. J. Surg. Oncol. 2011;103:550β554. The data suggest that suppressor cells are generated in draining lymph nodes of these patients b
To evaluate the relation between the degree of lymph node metastasis and the growth potential of tumour cells and the local immune function in gastric cancer, we analyzed data on 444 patients with advanced serosally invasive gastric cancer who underwent curative gastrectomy. Tumour growth potential
