✦ Synopsis

Conference in Barcelona. In the last few years, they point out, a great effervescence of concentration on PV from the R&D side occurred and has been growing, with the recent key event being May's 3rd International Conference on Solar Concentrators for the Generation of Electricity or Hydrogen, held in Arizona.

Among the conclusions of this conference are: the commercialisation of concentrator systems based on very efficient silicon solar cells operating at 200-400 suns (mainly Amonix and Solar Systems) and several companies in Europe, USA and Japan pursue commercialisation of concentrator PV modules based on III-V solar cells.

This paper reports the experimental results from several technical approaches aimed at achieving highly efficient solar cells for terrestrial and space-power applications. Efficiencies of up to 28.7% "(200X, AM1.5) and 24.8% (IX, AM1.5) have been achieved with homoepitaxial GaAs p/n cells. This one-
