## Abstract A patient is presented who had multiple areas of osteonecrosis occurring during corticosteroid therapy for systemic lupus erythematosus. Involvement of the metacarpal heads, not reported previously, was present. Radiostrontium scanning, which has proved useful in the early diagnosis of
