✦ Synopsis
Four new metal ion complexes with phosphatrane ligands have been isolated and characterized including AuBr 3 (SP(OCH
). The phosphatranes are examples of hypervalent phosphorus ligands which are bound through oxygen or sulfur to the metal ion. These complexes are unique models for proposed intermediates in metal ion promoted phosphate ester substitution reactions.
