✦ Synopsis

Hyperfine interactions have been studied at a cooperative 'T2 = ' Al transition in the solid complex Fe(4,7-(CH&-pher&(NCS)z employing an external field Helt = 40 kG and temperatures between 4.2 and 163OK (phen = l,iO-phenanthroline).

At cryogenic temperatures, the isolated 'Al ground state may be characterized by V,, > 0.q = 0.8, and H, = 0. At 163°K. the result for the 'Tz ground state, within the x tensor approximation,

The compounds M2FeSn& (M=Cu, Ag) represent, to our knowledge, the first example ofan iron(I1) high spin ('T2) -low spin ('A, ) transition in the spine1 lattice. Additionally, these compounds are one of the rare caSes where such a spin transition is observed for bivalent iron in an octahedral sulfur
