The compounds M2FeSn& (M=Cu, Ag) represent, to our knowledge, the first example ofan iron(I1) high spin ('T2) -low spin ('A, ) transition in the spine1 lattice. Additionally, these compounds are one of the rare caSes where such a spin transition is observed for bivalent iron in an octahedral sulfur

✦ Synopsis
The Fe"(TRIM),(PhCO,) (ClO,) spin crossover complex (TRIM = 4'-(4-methylimidazole )-2'-(2"-methylimidazole) imidazole, PhCOr = C6H5C02) has been synthesized and investigated by Miissbauer spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements as a function of temperature. The spin conversion is gradual and exhibits a 5% LS fraction at 300 K and no residual HS fraction below 150 K. A theoretical approach based on the Ising-like model completed with additional degeneracies of vibrational origin successfully fits the data.
