## Abstract Hydrolysis of esters of higher fatty acids by subcritical water, performed in a flowβthrough tubular reactor, was investigated at temperatures from 280 up to 340β Β°C and pressures exceeding 12β MPa, using an ester/water ratio of 1β :β 2 or 1β :β 4 (vol/vol). The kinetics of the hydrolysis of

β¦ Synopsis
The task of this work was to gain a better understanding of the hydrolysis of esters in sub-and supercritical water (SCW ). Therefore, the kinetics of the hydrolysis of ethyl acetate as a model reaction was studied in the pressure and temperature range of 23-30 MPa and 250-400Β°C, respectively. The corresponding reaction mechanisms in sub-and supercritical water were discussed.
