✦ Synopsis

The cathodic behaviour of tin has been investigated in potassium hydroxide solutions at four concentrations and at three temperatures.

The hydrogen overpotential values obtained in solutions of KOH at 0.01, 0'05, 0"1 and 1 N KOH were in full agreement with Tafel's equation. The slope of the potential/log (current density) plots (constant b) was 0.120 V at 25Β°C for all solutions.

The effect of temperature has been investigated at 25 Β°, 40 Β° and 55Β°C in 0.1 N KOH solution. The hydrogen overpotential decreased by approximately 2 mV/~C, whilst the constant b increased approximately in direct ratio to the absolute temperature.

L'6quation de Tafel est satisfaite pour la surtension d'hydrog6ne, en KOH 0,01; 0,04; 0,1 ; 1 N. Ces quatre solutions impliquent la m6me pente, soit 0,120 ~. 25Β°C, de la courbe (tension, log i).

DC current and ac admittance at two frequencies (63.2 and 632 Hz) were measured for monocrystalline nickel electrodes [(11 l), (MO), (110) and (ZiO)] in 0.1 M KOH, under conditions of slow potential sweeps between -0.45 and +0.55 V. Three intertacial processes could be distinguished analyzing the de
