Graphite fluorination use of a volatile fluoride at room temperature can be achieved with the such as BFs, BrF,, ClF, and IF, in a Fz + HF atmosphere. The compounds obtained by this new method have a ternary composition and a layered structure in which the carbon hexagons remain planar and the C-F b

A high surface area, chemically-prepared graphitic oxide, Cs04H2, has been used as cathodic material in lithium batteries. Good performances have been obtained (2000 W h/kg energy density) because of its physico-chemical and electrochemical properties. Industrial applications can be envisaged.
