Abstract
The preceeding paper presents a critical tabular compilation of 2βcenter homoβ and heteropolar bond dissociation energies. This paper deals with some empirically derived general aspects of these data, particularly regarding relationships between structure and reactivity, i.e. substituent effects on bond dissociation energies. βExtraβ stabilization energies generated in electronically delocalized radicals or ions derived from these experimental data are also presented.

The rotational cutoff levels of C,( B' 'Z:, u" = 1,2), produced in the multiphoton dissociation of jet-cooled acetylene at 193 nm, have been measured using laser-induced fluorescence. This data is used to calculate the values AHf,,(C2) = 194.8iO.5 kcal/ mol and D,(CC-H) = 112.0 kO.8 kcal/mol, in exc
The kinetics of the gas-phase reaction of CH3F with 12 have been studied spectrophotometrically from 629 to 710 K, and were determined to be consistent with the following mechanism: (KIJ squares analysis of the kinetic data taken in the initial stages of reaction resulted in log k4 (M-w) = (11.3 f
The kinetics and equilibrium of the gas-phase reaction of CHaCFZBr with IZ were studied spectrophotometrically from 581 to 662Β°K and determined to be consistent with the following mechanism: KIZ
The a-distonic sulphur-containing ion 'CH,&CH,), has been generated by transfer of CH: ' from ionized oxirane to dimethyl thioether and distinguished from the molecular ion of ethyl methyl thioether by collision induced dissociation (CID) experiments. In particular, the a-distonic ion expels CH, to
