β¦ Synopsis
A i ariational method inilobing the transoerse components of the electric field and their transi'erse derivatii~es has been used to calculafe the dispersion curi'es of the higher-order modes of an electromagnetic wave propagating along a lossless rectangular chirowaueguide with perfectly canducting walls. The agreement between the variational results and those obtained bv a finite-difference method is excellent for the dominant mode, but deteriorates for higher-order modes. The chirowaueguide modes hare been labeled, and their cut-off frequencies haoe been girlen as functions of the ratio of the guide dimensions. Q 1996 John Wley & Sons. Inc.

## Abstract An oversize microstrip patch antenna using multifeed has been proposed. By employing 1βtoβ8 in phase power divider, the antenna has been excited using edge feeds and resonates at fundamental mode. The proposed patch antenna is designed for high antenna gain of 10.9 dBi at 5.8 GHz. The o
In this paper, an extension of Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC) is proposed. It considers the correlation between a modal vector and a subspace spanned by several modal vectors, instead of the usual correlation between two modal vectors. Such higher-order MAC provides additional insight whenever mult
Axially located slots are introduced into wide strip lines in high-power beamformers to suppress the excitation of higher order modes. A ¨ariational finite-element technique is used to calculate the higher order model parameters and to e¨aluate the operation of the slot for a typical discontinuity.
## Abstract we propose a new scheme for monomode operation of microβring resonators utilizing vertical coupling. The scheme succeeds in suppressing higher order spatial modes by selectively exciting the fundamental mode of the ring. This is achieved by properly varying the material and waveguide pr
